Announcing Opportunities for Research in Parish Nursing
“How does parish nursing prevent ER and hospital visits?” “What impact do health education programs have on the health of the parishioners?” “What are the effects of parish nursing on the mission of the parish?” These are some questions which come up in discussions about parish nursing.
Are there questions that arise for you regarding the practice of parish nursing? Do you ever wonder how your questions might be answered?
In the scoping review of parish nursing research carried out by the CAPNM research committee (2021) it became clear that there is a great need for evidence-based knowledge about our practice here in Canada. The question becomes “Who will fill this gap?”
The CAPNM research committee is looking for ideas and volunteers. Have you got a burning parish nurse practice question for which you would like to find an answer? Would you like to try your hand at doing some research on the topic? Or, maybe you know someone who is interested in doing a research project. If so, the CAPNM research committee would like to offer support and resources.
The CAPNM research committee is willing to offer mentorship to nurses who would like to do research on a parish nursing question. Requests for this assistance can be made through capnm.secretary@gmail.com
CAPNM has established a small bursary to CAPNM members to do research in parish nursing. Details and application forms can be found in the list to the right.
Contact CAPNM Secretary for more information about the Research Bursary and time lines to submit the application at capnm.secretary@gmail.com.
